Artist Statement
Mateo (b. Los Angeles 1998) is an interdisciplinary visual artist who utilizes 3D animation, poetry, sculpture, and performance. They received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California Irvine and currently attending a Post-Bach program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since moving away from LA, Mateo has continued to delve into concepts of home and sensations that are comforting using food and domestic Rasquache and Latinx visuals and narratives.​
